I'm A Vietnam War Chinook crew member and model builder. I needed a reference to refresh my memory on some aspects of the aircraft for a current modeling project, CH 47A 65-07971, Shrimpboat 971. The book was recommended on a modeling web site but I had previously been unable to locate a copy. This time around I found several copies on various web sites including a "New Condition" copy for only $89. That was way more than I wanted to spend as I'm more interested in content than in condition. On Amazon.com there was listed a slightly used copy with some flaws indicated for only $18, right down my alley! When the book arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at the condition. There are no flaws that I can see. No marks, no apparent wear, no notes or stains, no dog ears. It looks new to me. The book is chock full of information and photos for the Chinook modeler or veteran. I would like to have more photos of the A model since that's what I flew on, but I understand the model was only in service for about five years before being upgraded to later, more powerful versions which continue in service to this day. Over all it's an excellent book in excellent condition for a very good price. Tom Wills 179th ASHC 1966-67

A great source of information on the details (inside and out) of Boeing's Chinook helicopter.

I was stationed at Ft. Hood with B Co., 2/158th Aviation, 6th Cav Bde (AC) when the photographers took the close up shots for this book. It was fun escorting them around for the pictures and it's a great walk down memory lane to flip through them almost 20 years later.

Some of the diagrams pulled from the operator's manual are small and have TINY text. The pictures are fantastic and the level of detail is such that you may need a magnifying glass to get it all. Overall a great book.

I have used this book many time for references, as I am an Aviation Artist, and Modeler. In the section concerning the ACH-47 "Guns-a-Go-Go" unit, the book states that "Birth Control" #64-13154 was the sole surviving ACH-47A, after "Easy Money" was destroyed outside the Citadel in Hue. That fact is, "Easy Money" #64-13149 was the sole survivor, after rescuing the crew of "Birth Control". But as far as the graphics go, there are none to compare it to!
