When this came on the scene in 2007, i tried at the range based on Golf Digest article. I killed it at the range. Then took it to the course and I sucked. I bought the original DVDs and watched them all, many times and heard different things each time. I guess what I'm saying is they say a lot very quickly and it is all connected specifically. For example the hip move forward. If you don't listen carefully you will fire your hips first and get it wrong. What they talk about in slow motion is the sequencing of things that have to occur. Your hip has to start moving toward the target and keep moving through impact. That is a continuous motion, not a fire your hips to the left (for RH golfer) and then bring your arms through. I got this wrong for a lot of years, because I wanted the quick fix and "thought I got it". Fast forward to 2017/2018 and I read the book cover to cover again and again and again. The level of information here is profound. If you are willing to actually listen to the story end to end, you will absolutely improve your knowledge of the golf swing and ball flight. But like anything in life, you have to put the work in. This method works and they are not teaching any magic move. They are teaching how to get to impact and control where the ball will end up. Whether you shift weight or not, the basics are the same. Do this slow motion for a month, and stop and think about what you are feeling and why. Don't assume you can go out with this or any other method and swing full speed and think "you got it".

I have been trying to add all the elements of the Stack &Tilt to my game. I have not gotten everything groved yet, but am working on it. The best part of the book, regardless of how much you want to incorporate into your swing, is the chapter on diagnosing what your swing did to the ball at impact based on the flight of the ball. After reading the book and working to put all the points described into my swing, I have taken 10 strokes off my game. I shot an 87 today. My ball contact has gotten much better. I am now working on adding power and improving direction. This book is easy to follow and I would call it the best book I have read on improving your golf game.

I bought this book after working for several months with a stack and tilt instructor. The instructor himself kept providing me with awesome progress that I was able to consistently work on and improve so I wanted to make sure there wasn't more that I was missing in between the lines. It has become an invaluable tool that I constantly refer to if I am uncertain on if my form is correct for certain shots.

I was not knowledgeable enough in swing differences at first to realize I was being taught Stack and Tilt so for the first couple months of lessons I would take a lesson, get amazing results and then read a tip in a book or magazine that would throw off my efforts completely. I learned that you need to commit to the swing type you are learning. While there are many points that you can take from Stack and Tilt and apply it to your own swing it is important to realize the difference of taking advice somewhere else that would completely counteract what you are learning.

An example of this for me was being told my swing path is too much inside and to take it out farther. Well in order to make the correct shoulder turn and get the club resting on your right "trigger" finger it HAS to be on the inside. Once I committed to the teachings of my instructor and this book my progress has consistently improved. I know how to continue improving and I know why it is improving.

I took issue with the comments in another review that suggested this swing wont gain you power. I disagree. There is a certain point you will reach with consistent hard work where the only way to gain more distance would be to start making certain specific changes that may be more powerful and traditional but far less consistent. HOWEVER - you should not be concerned with this if you are not already compressing the ball fully with the handle PAST the ball at impact. Once you reach that level where you have the handle forward with a fully compressed shot and the divot always in front of the ball THEN the only way to improve your distance will be good old fashioned work outs specified at your forearms, core, shoulders and legs.

So if you are not compressing the ball with the handle forward past the ball at impact and divots ALWAYS past the ball then you WILL improve in distance and definitely in ball striking.

Buy this book, but more importantly find a stack and tilt instructor. You will walk away from every lesson hitting shots you didn't know you could.

I have read numerous golf books from "Five Lessons", to the "Golfing Machine" and for me The Stack and Tilt swing works and does so in 5 easy steps! Probably the biggest issue with recreation golfers is that they do not make contact with the ground in the same place every time (i.e. in front of the ball). The Stack and Tilt golf swing solves this problem and it only requires a minimum amount of practice. Case in point, for me to get more consistent contact I simply focus on straightening my back leg on the backswing and taking my hands inside. The result is my swing bottoms out in front of the ball and I hit a draw that goes 10-15 yards longer than my `conventional' swing. If I want to draw or hook the ball more, all I do is take my hands inside even more. If I hit the ball thin, I focus on straightening my back leg and getting a little more weight forward. It is amazing how easy this is to do.

Recently, I was on the range hitting balls with the Starter at my golf course and he asked me what I thought he needed to do to hit the ball higher and father. I simply had him setup with more weight on his front foot, straighten his back leg on the back swing and move his hands inside. Within 10 swings he was hitting the ball higher, father and with a draw! He told me a week later that he broke 85 for the first time in 10 years and all his buddies want me to help them.
