Susan Mallery did it again. com User, 17 years ago. the book was just an increadible piece of writing. the story is sort of "anna and the king" but the author did a great job explainig the feelings and emotions the main characters were going through. I can't believe how wonderful it was and I simply adored both Malik and Liana. He was soulful and brooding and incredibly sexy. She was charming and someone I would want as my best friend.

Single mom Liana Archer had read her share of romance novels featuring dashing, passionate sheiks. Still, she was astonished when sinfully handsome Malik Khan, Crown Prince of exotic El Bahar, hijacked her and her little girl off an airliner and into his lavish palace. Why would the sexy desert prince want a passably pretty schoolteacher from San Bernadino...?"

I have read many of the "desert rogues" books. I find them entertaining - often times for the writing and a lot of time for the silliness of it all. My husband and I have started making regular sheik jokes and he's started giving me a hard time when I read them.

PROS - Entertaining writer makes for an easy read, the stories are linear so it's fun to read about what happens to each person and continue to follow their stories from book to book, sexual and violent content is "adult" but I don't think makes it to erotica. I think they are iconic of your classic romance novel and Harlequin type romances.

CONS - Author uses the same terms/phrases in nearly every book. I can't remember the phrase off hand, but it's weird and she uses it in every one of her books. It's started to get annoying. Also, the plots are pretty similar - girl/boy meet, they know each other for practically now time and have sex, girl resists boy, boy demands respect, and repeat. The narrative and dialogue is just different enough to make reading the books entertaining, but the sub-current and basic plot points are all the same. It gets pretty predictable.

Overall, I like these books for an easy read and a good laugh, but after reading 5-6 of them I just stopped because "finding out what happened to __________" just wasn't enough to keep my interest anymore.

In this story the new school teacher and her daughter are on a plane when they see a large amount of men on horses heading to cut off the plane. Once they come inside to take away a woman with them. This is the start of a relationship with her and the mysterious Sheik. Will he be able to court her and convince her of his love?

I had read this book back when it was first released years ago, it was just as enjoyable as the first time. I especially liked the last few chapters where I found myself chuckling over the banter between Liana and Malik.

Susan Mallery is a great writer but her desert rogue series leaves something to be desired. Maybe because they take place in a culture many of us do not understand but most of all it appearsthat the only obstacle standing in the way of true romance is that the Prince will not say the words, "I love you" in spite of the fact that he demonstrates caring in many ways. It seems rather silly but maybe it is just my age. The story and the others in the series are okay for an summer afternoon entertainment.

I love her series of Sheik romances ...
Another of her books that captures the heart .. I really like Susan Mallery's writings.
She captures the reader and leads them on a wonderful journey of ups and downs,
that leads to romance and always the "Happy ending "
Why else do we read these stories because we enjoy the fantasy and the thrill of knowing
Fairy tails do come true thru books and movies... :)
