Cause and Effect : Intermediate Reading Practice. They should issue them in TEFL courses. They are a series of pre-made lessons you can teach with little/no prep time. They are complete, include new vocabulary, use the vocabulary in context, and have worksheets included. I use these books extensively. I wish Ms. Ackert would write 20 more, especially more at the Low Intermediate Level. They're just fantastic, and are fantastic to pull out when you need content.

Practice 1: The Magic of Merlin (1) There are many legends about King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and the wizard Merlin. Of all the characters in these tales, many people find Merlin the most fascinating, being a man of mystery and magic. It's said that Merlin could talk to the animals in the forest and predict the future for kings. Earthquakes very quickly destroy some landforms and create others. Undersea earthquakes can cause tsunamis, or tidal waves, with water reaching as high as 50 feet (15 m). When the water reaches land, it crashes ashore and rearranges the landscape. Even lightning, tornadoes, and hurricanes quickly change Earth's surface.
