Hitchens proves to be a dangerous foe to Clinton precisely because he avoids the protest modus operandi of the antiwar 1960s. Instead of being unwashed and plastered in DayGlo, he embodies the refined English gentleman, swirling a scotch-and-Perrier ( the perfect delivery system ) in a leather armchair, utilizing the polished grammar of an Oxford don in dissent, passing judgment from history’s throne.

Leading journalist Christopher Hitchens scrutinizes the features of Bill . This book is Hitchens at his best.

Leading journalist Christopher Hitchens scrutinizes the features of Bill Clinton's political methods, and argues that the Clinton machine might become a model for pseudo-democracy for the coming century. Many years from now, after Clinton is a distant bad memory to us all, historians will be referring to "No One Left to Lie To" to gain perspective on the most arrogant criminal to ever occupy the White House. If you're interested in the presidency, government, American history, politics in general, or in need of an ironic, albeit cynical, laugh, Hitchens is your guy.

In No One Left to Lie To, Christopher Hitchens portrays President Bill Clinton as one of the most ideologically skewed and morally negligent politicians of recent times. In a blistering polemic which shows that Clinton was at once philanderer and philistine, crooked and corrupt, Hitchens challenges perceptions - of liberals and conservatives alike - of this highly divisive figure.

‘Clintonism’ is not an idea, or a program; still less is it a principle. It represents what might be termed-were it not for its murk-the distilled essence of consensus politics. Unremarkable in its constituent elements, which are a mixture of opportunist statecraft, crony capitalism, ‘divide and rule’ identity politics, and populist manipulation, Clintonism has nonetheless raised these ordinary practices to the level of theory. It has succeeded, argues the author, because of a stealthy appeal to the waning and insecure forces of an American liberalism gone bad. Christopher Hitchens followed Governor Clinton through New Hampshire in 1992, and has remained an assiduous student of his methods ever since. In No One Left to Lie To, he profiles the rise and decline of some prominent Clintonoids, from George Stephanopoulos to the First Lady. He scrutinizes the debased new language in which the discourse of Clintonism has been couched, and proposes that, if successful, the Clinton machine will become the model of pseudo-democracy for the coming century.

Christopher Hitchens, my most favorite author, has done an excellent job of documenting President's Clinton's record. The book is compelling and factual. I wish he were alive to capture the 2016 presidential race. There is absolutely no one left to fill his shoes.

This is a wonderful book. I lived and worked in Washington during both Clinton administrations. This book reminds me of all the reasons there should never be a third. My regret is that Hitchens didn't live to cover the current presidential campaign.

One of the more enraging and enjoyable angry essays I have read. Hitchens goes after Clinton with a viciousness that certainly can make one smile. While I won't say that Hitchens manages to land every blow with ease, insinuation can be weak ground to stand on for even the greatest writer, many of his hits are exact and brutal; if one is trying to be honest about the Clinton presidency. Hitch lays bare some ugly truths about the neo-liberal agenda of the New Democrats, the passage of free-trade, welfare reform, the use of military force and speedy execution to distract from personal scandal and appear strong, all in the hopes of appealing for Republican votes. This book is a worthwhile read for all, and certainly for tribalist Democrats who should be honest about evaluating and holding their representatives accountable to the standards that they proclaim to represent but discard with impunity.

Hitchens was the first to see the moral bankruptcy of the Clintons from a progressive viewpoint. I remember him years ago being attacked by the NPR crowd for his criticisms of their neoliberal politics. If he were still with us, he would see his critique confirmed by subsequent events. Still a very valuable book.

Lawyers, politicians, and used car salesmen. If you weren't already discouraged enough about our political situation, then this book about the Clinton's will definitely do it. * The part that I found most revealing, was that the Clinton healthcare plan, aka: Hillary Care, was designed to FAIL from the beginning.

This is an excellent book, easily one of the best I've read by Christopher Hitchens. As a progressive, I'd recommend this to anybody who considers themselves progressive, liberal, left-wing, or what have you. It excoriates both of the Clintons, but unlike most of the many, many attacks on them by conservatives, it is accurate and fair. It doesn't go overboard in its criticisms based on emotion and hatred, which is the trap right-wingers overwhelmingly fall into when criticising left-wingers generally, or the Clintons specifically. There's a lot in this book that everybody, but especially those on the left, should know. There are plenty of quotable lines by Hitchens, too, but I'll let you discern those for yourselves.

An excellent book if I've ever read one. The way Hitchens curls wit, fact, and plot together is really a spectacle. Clintonians could never have been the same after this book.
An account of appalling behavior on the part of Bill and Hillary Clinton during the time of their political lives to date which gives the
reader justifiable apprehension of what may be in store for the nation should Hillary become President and which author Hitchens may be glad he won't have to witness due to his untimely death.
