Heather Graham, The Presence. Series: Harrison Investigation . 0). Thank you for reading books on BookFrom.

I have enjoyed the Heather Graham books that I have read. They have a bit of mystery, a bit of the supernatural, a bit of suspense, and a bit of romance. I found in this one there were a lot of characters, and it was difficult to keep track of all of them (who was married to whom, etc) but I overall enjoyed the story and was pleasantly surprised at the end.

The primary reason for the one star is due to (what I believe is) a publishing error. While that is not the author's fault, it greatly affects the readability of the book - so unless you *know* your copy of the book won't have these same issues, then you may want to avoid.

My copy of this book (purchased as a paperback through Amazon) had italics EVERYWHERE. Sometimes it went on for pages at a time.

Typically, an author will use italics for foreign words, an inner monologue, or perhaps for emphasis. Since these were English words, my first instance was "inner monologue." However, the italics would begin in the middle of a sentence, and continue on through conversations between characters and over several pages. After I realized that it was a printing error as opposed to a deliberate effort (at least I hope), it took me out of the book every time the italics started. While I was able to finish the book, it greatly diminished any enjoyment I had reading it.

I had an additional issue with this book, due to plot similarities to another Heather Graham book I read about 15+ years ago (can't remember the title, but something like reincarnated lovers from the revolutionary or civil war where he is hanged while she is shot in the back?) - I hated that book and put me off of this author until about a year ago. If I didn't have the italics issue mentioned above, I might not have allowed this issue to color the rest of my opinion.

This book is probably okay, but I couldn't get past the italics - similar to someone leaving their turn signal on for miles on the highway.

I've read just about all of Heather Graham's books, and I've loved them all. 'The Presence' is a good book, but, for me, it didn't grab me by the throat like some of her other books did.

I absolutely love the 'Krewe of Hunters' series; I hope she continues to add more and more books to that collection. One the the best things about them is that even after a book is finished, she brings some of the characters forward to appear in another book. I really like that continuity.

Story line was good, had some typos and disconnected stories of lesser characters, why did the horse get sick, what was up with Gina and Ryan, what's the story on the creepy grounds keeper. Things like that were left hanging and incomplete. Otherwise a good read.

Only a four because there are numerous editing errors. A machine must have done the formatting. Many words that are really one word were broken into two words. It was distracting. The story was so good and so well done I kept plowing forward and I'm very glad I read it! Please fire your formatter and get a better one because I want to read more of your amazing stories!

Book is really good. I'm reading the series of Harrison Investigation - I didn't know this existed until last week. I'm a big fan of Heather Graham's Kewes series. This is the "before" series.

The story was really picturesque and involving. I recommend this author to anyone who would like to escape into another world. Very intriguing twists and turns leaving the reader pondering who done it! It is full of imprinted words but easy to figure out.

Read it in one day! Could not put it down! An amazing follow up to the first book! I missed Adam in this book!
I enjoyed the characters, but I knew the perpetrator early on. But the worst part was the way it came through on the kindle. No chapter breaks, no indication when different people were talking or the scene changed. Very confusing to read which made reading a chore rather than a pleasure????
