I have lots of fun reading Nancy Pickard’s Jennifer Cain’s mystery series. Jan 31, 2012 George rated it liked it.

Mar 23, 2012 Nell rated it it was amazing. No matter the plot, entertaining and likable characters can make any book enjoyable. However, the lack of these characters in But I Wouldn’t Want to Die There shows in the final product. The novel has an intriguing plot to begin with, but the lazy, simple characters contribute next to nothing to successfully developing it. As a result, a reader can struggle to enjoy this book throughout. I have lots of fun reading Nancy Pickard’s Jennifer Cain’s mystery series.

Well-written story - author keeps up suspense while injecting liberal amounts of humor. Will recommend it to my Book Club.
Love Nancy's writings. Very entertaining. This book had many spelling errors. Should have had better editing.
Great book. Did not want to put it down. I am looking forward to starting another Pickard mystery soon. Thank you.
this was a great read! I love Nancy Pickard and try to read every single thing she writes. My book club also just read this and loved it.
It takes a really exceptional American writer to wean me away from my favourite English historical mysteries, but Nancy Pickard is such a smooth and accomplished writer that I can't resist her books. I just don't know what took me so long to find them.
It doesn't matter what aspect of mystery writing you consider, this writer can handle it flawlessly. She hooks in the reader effortlessly, her sense of place is awesome, and my pea brain doesn't get the characters muddled up, one with the other. The plot, the pacing, the motivation - it's all extremely well done.
In this story Jenny Cain moves to New York to fill in for her murdered friend Carol and there she finds a confused and confusing place, with characters to match. Her own personal battle - to stay there or return home to a quiet backwoods town - is the underlying counterpoint to the more immediate dangers she faces as she tries to discover how Carol met her death.
It's a book you won't want to put down.
After reading this book I am speechless, without speech. I have read some pretty bad books but this one takes the cake. I don't blame the writer. She has a passion to write, but it seemed she was just pulling things out of the air to make a story. It seems she really didn't know how to end the story. I was just shaking my head at the end. Now, why the publisher would even think to publish this book is beyond me. Not sure they really read it:))
Nancy Pickard is an exceptional author who pulls you into the story and whisks you along along the way providing a true sense of place and memorable characters. In this book she does a wonderful job of describing an out-of-towner in the Big Apple. With surprises, humor and emotion, she once again gives a wonderful ride to the reader.
Loved the Jenny Cain mysteries series.
