Employee surveys are used by organizations throughout the world, typically to drive change and improve engagement and retention. Giving employees a voice is seen as a `good thing to do' but too often the managerial response to the findings is `so what?'. It doesn't have to be this way.

As its title suggests, this book argues that the secret to delivering employee surveys that have real impact and value is to use them, strategically, to ask the right questions. The purpose of the survey, the content and the follow-up actions must all stem from and support the business strategy.

As well as detailing the primary reasons why organizations conduct surveys, the book shows how to measure what matters and it gives a proven, seven-step approach for action planning. It highlights how to set goals for improvement, for successive applications of a survey, and the commitment and other characteristics needed by leadership teams in order to sustain change. It also explains how organizational values and leadership practices can energise employees, creating a higher level of engagement and enhancing long-term business performance.

I would give this book higher marks if it were not so brief. The written content is dry, but it is too short...especially considering all that Jack knows.

The other weakness are the book's graphics. They are very simplistic and almost look like they were done on a typewriter.
