A record of overfishing and management policies is the problem in the North Atlantic.

Dannie's work on fishes included publications on pomacentrids, hagfishes, and flatfishes. He became a widely recognized expert on flatfishes and his publications on this group began in 1977 and continued until his death. Dannie described several new species of flatfishes and published other works on the systematics of this group of fishes. A record of overfishing and management policies is the problem in the North Atlantic. Introductions from the North Pacific to the North Atlantic are not worth the costs or the environmental risks involved.
