This is a nice addition, too, to my little collection of AC books. Although I'm not really interested in much of the AC Revival decorating I see, it being far too modern. It's as if people are simply a few AC touches here and there to their otherwise modern homes. I prefer it the other way--with a thoroughly AC era home, with a few modern touches--if any at all. For instance, using warm LED Edison-style light bulbs rather than the incandescent reproductions that are available. You get a similar character and feel without the high electrical costs. I'm contemplating installing a modern, air-tight, wood-burning fireplace, in an AC style. They're much more efficient than a masonry fireplace, are highly customizable, and far less costly to use and maintain. As for decorating ideas, the book contains many good ideas, including many from more authentic homes. I'm sure I'll come back to it again and again. The cost is also very good for my limited budget, too.

I'd really like to give this book four and a half stars. It's a wonderful introduction to the Arts & Crafts style. There are lots of photos, which helps a lot if you want to use the book as a reference for decorating. Architecture, furniture, pottery - it's all addressed. The quality of the photographs is excellent. I did learn from all the photos that while I love the style, too much of a good thing can be overpowering. Many of the pieces are massive and can feel oppressive in quantity.

I bought this book, plus two others, as a primer on the Arts & Crafts/Mission style. I am building out my basement and wanted to use this style. I was interested particularly in the furniture, interior details (stair rails, windows, decorative wood, etc.) as well as paint colors. This book did not disappoint. There are many full color photos and excellent information on the creators of the style, the styles themselves, and the history of the style in America. I would higly recommend this book if you want to see fine examples as well as read about the movement.

This book provides a good overview of the aesthetic of Arts and Crafts styling, and will give you inspiration for interior design as well as exterior detailing. The book doesn't focus exclusively on interiors, but does provide a really good insight into the roots of the movement.
Phobism
a hard thing to find in the arts and crafts are great color photos, this book has them plus a nice brief description on furniture itself.
If you want to reproduce or get plans this is not the book, but you will definitely get the feel on what good quality furniture of this style should look like. If you are interested in building or learning about this style this book is a must have.
DEAD-SHOT
If you are an aficionado of the Arts and Crafts style, and are looking to incorporate it into your house, I would highly recommend this book. It shows all phases of Arts & Crafts styles, from original Stickley and Greene and Greene pieces in faithfully restore older homes to newer homes incorporating the spirit of the Arts & Crafts style into their design and decor. It is full of ideas and inspiration.

This is a very well written book on the Arts and Crafts movement in America. Much better than Stickley Style, a similar but inferior book, IMHO.
It gives you a detailed overview of the movement and some insights into what Arts and Crafts is all about.
Excellent overview of the Arts & Crafts style with wonderful photos that capture both the essence and the breadth of the style. As an novice woodworker who aspires to create Arts & Crafts furniture, this book gave me plenty to dream about and is a pleasure to read!
