I've read several books on the American Civil War and this is the best so far. The other books are very good, factual, well written, thorough, good history books.
I've read several books on the American Civil War and this is the best so far. This book brings to life the story of the war and the soldiers who fought in it. The author is more a compiler of other men's stories. He writes very little, only enough to introduce the next narrative, not enough to detract from the flow, and lets the men tell their own stories.
Civil War. Roland was a Captain in the United States Army and a World War II veteran. He has served as the elected president of the Southern Historical Association and contributed to several other historical societies. He turned 100 in April 2018.
