I bought this book for someone else, but it was based on my previous purchase for myself. The book has been extremely valuable to me as a backyard bird watcher. The descriptions of each bird and it habits are brief but seem thorough, at least for my use. It also has a lot of information on bird habits just in general and how to attract species to your yard. I have other books that are pretty dense to read and hard to find the most common birds I see. I would recommend this book especially to a bird watching starter like me.

This guide is the best! It gives great information on identifying birds, bird behavior, bird food, bird feeders, bird houses, trees and plants that attract different species of birds. All of the information is interesting to read and helps you to improve your birding skills and knowledge. It gives you ideas on how to attract each different bird. It gives information on birdfeeders and how to place them correctly for the best results. I'm a "birder" and I bought this book as a gift. It's one of my favorite bird books. I would recommend this to beginners and experts.

This book is very informative and helpful in learning about common birds, what to feed them, and when to expect them in my area. The full color format is beautiful, and helps in identifying the different species. Knowing it's from Audubon helps me know it's authoritative.

I've started to do bird photography and love it. I bought this book (and Birds of Eastern North America: A Photographic Guide by Paul Sterry) because the first section provides a decent background on the nature of birds. It also provides information on what to plant in order to attract certain birds, and how to build bird houses.

Birding has opened my world to discovering "new" birds in my yard and I've gotten to appreciate their singing and their habits.

I had purchased the book in a book store and liked it so well that I ordered another one here. There are later editions of this book but I only saw this one at the bookstore so that is why I bought it.

This book is more than just a bird feeder guide. It covers understanding bird behavior, recognizing birds, plants that attract certain birds, etc. It has great pictures, including how to identify birds. Highly recommend.
