One of the more complete books I have read form the Guru's of the 'Golden years'. I found his writing style and overall advice to actionable and clear. Other books written by other Guru's of the golden years were a little unclear and left me wondering what to do. So in response to one reviewer here.......

I just finished this book and don't recall Reeves recommending 12 sets in anything.
What he did say was: 3 sets of 8-12 reps, with no cheat reps, so do your maximum weight for '8-12' reps and stop only when you cannot complete a rep without proper form. Then for your next set you either keep it the same weight or reduce the weight by 10% approx. So you wont hold anything back on each set. Known as, 'Down the rack system'.
He also did say to mix it up a little to confuse the body when things get stale. Also do up to 20 reps for calves.
However training for 2-3 hrs is not for everyone which I would agree with you on that one. I did about half of his program in an hour, the next morning I felt my muscles responding well. I intend to try his program for 3 months and see what happens.
I would recommend this book to people who have some training time under their belt, perhaps not for beginners.
It's an interesting book and a look into the life of a body building guru, one of the greats!
Thanks you are a legend Steve!!

I'm so excited reading this. I've always use to look up to Arnold, which was wrong from the stand point of trying to achieve a physique like his naturally. It's just not going to happen. Although Steve Reeves had amazing genetics he should be the benchmark for all who want to achieve the best version of themselves physically. Nothing has changed in the human body in the last 75 yrs that would deny you, your ability to follow Steve Reeves workout regimen and achieve affective results.

Here are the training methods and nutritional regimen of steve reeves, the first bodybuilding champion to become a pop culture super star and all told in his straight forward, candid and humble way.
Just think about it. He managed to make his body look like that with no steroids or sports supplements of any kind because they had not even been invented yet. The most amazing physique that has withstood the test of time and guaranteed 100% natural.
And as far as gym machines? At the time the big new fad was the bench press. That's it. His routine is pretty much just dumbells, barbells, and the occasional pulley. When you see the pictures of the gyms he worked out at, believe me, your garage looks better.
By far the biggest contribution though is his concept of "the classic physique" which is a symmetrically balanced broad shouldered, slim waisted aesthetic based on the greek and roman ideals of male bodily perfection. To put it another way: guys, when a woman says she likes a muscular man, this is what she is talking about. The perfect v taper.
Hit the irons. Eat a lot of eggs.

Just received this book ordered to the UK from the USA (Steve Reeves official site) and I am so happy with how quickly it arrived ... The predicted date was anywhere between 1-2 months away and it arrived within 5-6 days ! Brilliant service, nice quality and full of information for the aspiring natural bodybuilder. The approach that Steve took towards bodybuilding is very salt of the earth and he was clearly far ahead of his time! A healthy, well proportioned, fit and successful actor who understood the main principles of bodybuilding. I personally also believe that Steve Reeves advocated the perfect ratio of intensity:volume:frequency for the aspiring bodybuilder. THANKYOU AGAIN FOR THE INCREDIBLY FAST DELIVERY :D

Too bad this great book is out of print, and therefore so expensive. Fans of classical bodybuilding will admire the great photographs of Steve in his prime, and will find much to admire in this practical, logical, and inspirational guide to getting in shape. Hardcore enthusiasts and fans of monsters like Dorian Yates may think the approach (and Reeves' physique) almost quaint, but the author's proportions were classical and his look is still stunningly impressive: what used to be considered in saner times "the Olympic Ideal". The book is worth a look, if you can find it, and bound to be a collector's item very soon.

This book is great if you want to get in shape the right way, the healthy way, for life!

In today's world where everyone is an expert bodybuilder trying to sell you their lastest workout program this book comes with practical no nonsense advice. Most importantly it comes from a man known to have had the best physical proportions ever. In addition Steve Reeves won the title of Mr. Universe among other titles and he did it the natural way. I highly recommend this book to any beginner or advance bodybuilder, the workouts and diets are worth the price not to mention the interesting life story of a true legend.

It's simple, look at the cover of this book and if this is the type of body you want to build then buy the book you won't be disappointed.
Excellent item.
