CJ Lyons is a fantastic writer. Lifelines is the debut novel of author and doctor CJ Lyons. I realized that Lifelines was one of her earlier books, because it lacks the romance that she included in her Hart and Drake series, and that is something I prefer reading. For someone who is hungry to read about the aura inside a hospital and graphic procedures most of us can't quite understand, Lifelines is the novel for them. It's an entertaining read and, as others have noted, feels like a continuation of ER. And like ER, the primary characters are rife with personal problems.

CJ Lyons takes you on an amazing ride with Lifelines! This story is filled with suspense, drama, romance, action and mystery. The character development is excellent and the medical terminology is graphic enough to paint a picture in the reader's mind without being overwhelming

An angel of mercy or angel of death is a type of criminal offender (often a type of serial killer) who is usually employed as a caregiver and intentionally harms or kills people under their care. The angel of mercy is often in a position of power and may decide the victim would be better off if they no longer suffered from whatever severe illness is plaguing them. This person then uses their knowledge to kill the victim.

A gripping behind-the-scenes drama of four women who face life and death every day On her first day at Pittsburgh's Angels of Mercy Medical Center, L.A.-transplant Lydia Fiore, the new ER attending physician, loses a patient: the Chief of Surgery's son. Now, to save her career, Lydia must discover the truth behind her patient's death, even as it leads her into unfamiliar-and risky-territory. At least she's not alone. There's med student Amanda, a sweet Southern belle with problems of her own; Gina, a resident with a chip on her shoulder; and Nora, the no-nonsense charge nurse with a cool head but a fiery temper. Not to mention the paramedic who'd like to try out his bedside manner on Lydia.

I discovered CJ through her 'Hart & Drake' series, devouring those books, and immediately turned my attention to her debut 'Angels of Mercy' series. Oftentimes an author's debut novel is rife with growing pains, especially when viewed through the lenses of his/her (often much-improved) later work. Not so with CJ: she knocks it out of the park from the opening line of LIFELINES and throughout the entire 'Angels of Mercy' series, introducing an unforgettable cast of four strong-minded women whose flaws make them so astoundingly real that it's almost unnerving. Each woman gets her own story, but one of the nicest things about the series is that all four are an integral part of each novel and we get to witness and feel a part of each woman's growth as a person. [Lydia, the protagonist of LIFELINES, absolutely rocks!] The pacing is superb, the writing is tight and easy to read despite the medical jargon, the medical situations are accurate (within the confines of fiction!), and both the suspense & romance aspects of the storylines are masterfully dealt with. I was in the process of reading a mystery novel when I got my hands on LIFELINES and didn't give that other novel a second thought until I had finished the entire 'Angels of Mercy' series in a couple of days-- I absolutely could not put any of the books down.

If you're not reading CJ Lyons, you're definitely missing out on a fantastic thriller writer!

Excellent medical thrilled by one of my favorite authors. Interesting and engaging characters, fast paced and extremely well written. This author never disappoints. I have read each of this author's different categories of novels. I am a Lucy Guardino, Angels, Morgan, Hart and Drake, Insominia and Shadow Ops fan. I highly recommend this author and suggest you give her a read.

Lifelines is the debut novel of author and doctor CJ Lyons. It's an entertaining read and, as others have noted, feels like a continuation of ER. And like ER, the primary characters are rife with personal problems. So much so that I found it detracting from the primary plotline and simply not quite believable. As a psychologist, I wanted to get all these women into therapy as soon as possible. As a reader, I gradually lost a lot of my sympathy with Dr. Fiore and her cohorts.

Dr. Lyons brings an air of authenticity to her story, drawing on her own knowledge of emergency rooms. As she admits, some of the protocols were truncated in the interest of keeping the pace up. I don't see this as a real problem. The pace of this novel is rapid and the basic plot entertaining. If you're looking for a quick read with a lot of blood, ambulance chases and explosions, this is the book for you. If you're looking to gain a better understanding of the pressures and stresses on medical personnel in an inner city ER, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for all subplots to be tied up, you'll be disappointed.

Still, this is a debut novel. Given the strong points of this novel - the clean, clear use of language, the pacing, the settings - I'm looking forward to her next novel. I expect Lyons to get better and better.

Like all of CJ Lyons books they are laced with love and intrigue. I absolutely love CJ Lyons and how she puts together stories which tell a story to themselves. Linda Fiore and ER Doctor, has been the subject of this book and a trials and tribulations she runs into during the course of the book. this book is like Daniele Steele's book in so far as there is a love story woven into the actual story. When you reaf this book, plan not to do anything during the course of a day and part of the night which you are reading the book. you cannot put it down.

Typical CJ Lyons book, I can't wait to turn the page and finish the book and by the next one. Characters are well developed and flawed just enough to make them beliveable. Love Lydia and Trey, but Gina keeps me wondering what is the next stupid or selfish thing she will do to self-destruct. I am rooting for Nora and Seth. Jerry deserves to have a love that is complete, I don't think I can take it if Gina hurts him. Hope Amanda and Lucas get their happy ever after. I would like to follow the young people in the storyline as they relate to the adults. They each have a story to flesh out and tell, because their characters are already compelling.

CJ Lyons he done it again! She never ceases to disappoint, especially with her medical, mystery, romantic novel. I can never get enough of her books! Her characters are believable nd true t life. The stories are suspenseful, believable, and well researched for accuracy. C.J. LYONS is one of my most favorite authors!!
Since I started reading a novel by C.L. Lyons, I have been addicted. I am a nurse, so I appreciated the medical aspects. I literally had a hard time putting this down. My 9 yr old daughter kept interrupting me, it almost got ugly, lol!!!
I have read pretty much everything she has written, and wait with bated breath for more.
This novel will keep you on the edge of your seat, scared to turn the next page, but you can't control yourself!!!!
