Second, The Christmas Box Angel monument mentioned in the book has not only become a site to visit, but the statue has been duplicated throughout the world, giving those who have lost children a place to go to find healing. Today, there are more than a hundred Christmas Box Angel monuments, and every December 6th, thousands of people gather around those angels to remember their lost ones and find peace and comfort in the angel’s presence. The Christmas Box book. When Richard Paul Evans wrote The Christmas Box, he intended it as a private expression of love for his two young daughters, Jenna and Allyson. Whatever the reason, I find that with each passing Christmas. So, maybe my real I read The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans yesterday afternoon. The best thing about it was that it was short. I feel a little like Elaine from Seinfeld when she hated the highly acclaimed "English Patient".

A special anniversary edition of the unforgettable Christmas classic that has touched the hearts of millions of readers: “the most popular holiday tale since Tiny Tim” (Newsweek).Since The Christmas Box was first published, more than eight million people around the world have been touched by its magic. It is a holiday classic that is as beloved in our time as A Christmas Carol was in Dickens’s. This special 20th Anniversary Edition contains a new Introduction by the author, explaining how this personal tribute to his children, intended for just a few family members and friends, became a worldwide phenomenon that brings inspiration and healing to everyone who reads it. As he reiterates his intention to remind families of the preciousness of their love for each other, Evans explains how The Christmas Box has also helped children who have no families find love and hope. The miracle of The Christmas Box springs from its timeless message that knows no season. *** This was the meaning of the Christmas Box, that someday I would turn around and my little girl would be gone . . . How quickly the time has passed. Today those two little girls for whom I wrote The Christmas Box are adults. What hasn’t changed is the relevance of my little story. Now, just as it was a thousand years ago and will be a thousand years from now, parents still look at their children and feel their hearts breaking a little, knowing that the only promise of childhood is that someday it will be gone. It is my deepest hope that, for centuries to come, the message of The Christmas Box will endure as a reminder of the sanctity and holiness of a parent’s love. God Bless and Merry Christmas. —From the Introduction to the 20th Anniversary Edition

Richard Paul Evans is my favorite author!
All these many years, I have had this book and never read it. ..because I also had the movie. I love the movie thinking it followed the book...but recently I learned that the movie did not follow the storyline of the book. Some significant differences! I have some of my books stored since moving so I bought an ebook from Amazon and read it! I love the book, great story! And though I like the movie, I wish they would have stayed true to the book!
Extra bonus. ..As a result of this book the author has been able to help thousands of negleted children in ways that would not be possible otherwise. Do yourself a favor and get a great read and also help in a small way with these precious children! Hope this helps to make up your mind! You will find joy in the story. Read the book to find out the real story behind the movie!

Length, about 126 pages, including epilogue and about the author, etc.

Category: Fiction, Christian, possibly historical romance.

Audience: Christian, family, children, young adult.

I am grateful to have learned of this book while reading a Dan Poynter book on self-publishing.

From page one, this story grabbed me and did not let go until I finished it.

It reads as if it is a true story. Indeed, I was convinced it was a true story until I read several bits about the author being an advertising executive, which was much different from the narrator of the story, who was supposedly a partner in a wedding suit shop.

Still, it is possible the author is both, for all I know, but I digress.

This is a beautiful story that will capture the imagination of any child and that will be Geat medicine to any young father who deceives himself into believing he can make up for missed moments because there is time later always to shower his kids with greater gifts than time.

I learned this lesson myself the hard way. I thought my business would make possible gifts beyond my two sons's wildest dreams. I was wrong and I now know that.

Every young entrepreneur must read this book. I command it!

I am giving four stars only because I feel it should be made clear that this is a work of fiction. Well, a price reduction to $3.99 would also be nice.

The story is a Christian one. However, it does have themes that we all can relate to: love, loss, and the value of family among others. What is also enticing about this classic holiday work, though, is the writing. Evans has a style that is so easy on the mind's ear that I found myself dashing through it without missing a beat of the meanings expressed and without losing the savory descriptions.

If you want a Christmas story with many poignant messages, then this is the novel you should read. If you are a Christian, then the tale is additionally profound.

Richard Paul Evans can write and when you read it the words seem to be entering your heart as well as your mind. The feelings that he conveys in his book resonate throughout your whole being. I bought these books to share with co-workers that are believers but I really don't think that being a believer is necessary to feel the love that pours from his writings. This book just keeps giving.

SO ABSORBING AND DESCRIPTIVE THAT IT WAS LIKE SEEING IT ALL HAPPEN AS THOUGH YOU'RE RIGHT THERE! A VERY TOUCHING EXPERIENCE AND WISHED IT NEVER ENDED! LOVED MARY WHO WAS NOT AT ALL PRETENTIOUS AND IN ANY WAY NOR WAS THE AUTHOR, HIS WIFE AND CHILD WHO ALL ARE EXCEPTIONAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO EACH OTHER.

Great read! It took me about 3 days to read due to family get togethers during the Christmas Holiday Season. This is a perfect Christmas Gift for a friend or loved one who has lost a special person in their life or anyone who would like to gift themselves. It gives you clarity about missplaced values in our lives. Who doesn't need clarity in that department? I would venture to save that many of us do. But it! You won't regret it. It's a short read that captures and keeps your attention.
It's so easy
The Christmas Box, the touching story of a widow and the young family who moves in with her. Rick, Keri, and their 4-year-old daughter, Jenna, are hired as caretakers and are welcomed into the Victorian home of Mary Parkins, an elderly widow, just before the holiday season. As the relationship between Mary and the family develops we learn that Mary’s past sorrows are compelling her to share an important message with Richard. But will he understand her message in time? A heartwarming story of parental love, healing, and Christmas. Read the book and watch the movie. Both are fantastic!
This is the first book by Richard Paul Evans I have read. It certainly won't be the last. It is touching, heartening, thought-provoking and inspiring. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
