Added Upon is an effort to give in brief an outline of the scheme of things, the ways of God to men as taught by the Gospel of Christ and believed in by the Latter-day Saints; and to justify and praise these ways, by a glance along the Great Plan, from a point in the distant past to a point in the. future-not so far away, it is to be hoped. Many have told me that when they read Added Upon, it seemed to have been written directly to them. My greatest reward is to know that the little story has touched a sympathetic chord in the hearts of the Latter-day Saints, and that it has brought to some aching hearts a little ray of hope and consolation. Nephi Anderson was born in Norway in 1865. Added Upon, first published in 1898, was the first of his many fictional and faith promoting novels.

Christian Nephi Anderson (January 22, 1865 – January 6, 1923) was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a prolific author and the most well-known from the "Home Literature" period of LDS fiction. His most successful work was his first novel, Added Upon (1898), but his writing career also included short stories, poetry, and non-fiction. He published a total of ten novels.

Author of "The Castle Builder," "A Daughter of the North," "John St. John," "Romance of a Missionary," etc. " And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon;. and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever.

Nephi Anderson's Added Upon has been called "the most popular and enduring nineteenth-century work to emerge" from Mormonism's "home literature" movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Anderson's goal, according to the superscript in Added Upon, was to "assert eternal Providence, and justify the ways of God to men," though he would one-up Milton through the unique Mormon perspective.

Oh, how I love Nephi Anderson! He writes as if this were his journey from the pre-existence to our celetial home. His perspective of eternal bonds and friendships expand our earthly view and help us to understand the feeling of knowing someone or being there before. I have read this book and given it away many times in my life in the church. Enjoy the panarama of a soul's travels in this easily readable and enjoyable book!
Amazing story published first in 1898, but less than standard printing, paper and covers.
