Edward Morley Callaghan (February 22 1903 - August 25 1990) was a Canadian novelist, short story . Publications of short stories have appeared in The Lost and Found Stories of Morley Callaghan (1985), and in The New Yorker Stories (2001).

Edward Morley Callaghan (February 22 1903 - August 25 1990) was a Canadian novelist, short story writer, playwright, television and radio personality. Of Irish parentage, Callaghan was born and raised in Toronto. The four-volume The Complete Stories (2003) collects for the first time 90 of his stories. Callaghan was awarded the Royal Society of Canada's Lorne Pierce Medal in 1960.

While in Paris, the pair had been regular sparring partners at the American Club of Paris.

After reading this book, I have a newfound appreciation for this author. The way he juxtaposes racial segregation with a relationship between two caucasians, one who has a unique fondness for negroes in a very prejudiced 1950's Montreal, leaves readers spellbound. After awhile, you feel as if you are in the book yourself, looking on as the characters and the plot develop. By the time I made it to the climax of the story, i was in tears, and I felt every emotion that the characters in the book felt.
