If there is one book to read regarding the legendary era of Radio, THIS IS IT! Wriiten from an "I was there" point of view, "The Business of Radio Programming" puts you in the seat of the BEST Programmers of Broadcasting... Period! They are all there in this manual of Broadcasting History. Too many to mention. I liked it so much, I bought two copies, one for me and one for a friend.

There is so much relevant information for the radio fan and many many lessons for the current generation of Broadcasters. Read it and learn how Broadcasting should really be done today. Forget about begging to be liked on faceless book. This book is an "awakening" of the power of radio. THE ORIGINAL SOCIAL MEDIA!!!!!!!!!

So you're one of the few. The proud. A radio geek. Not necessarily a programmer - an avid listener, a history buff, even an account rep. This book is for you. Not a dry "how to do this" but chock full of interviews with the best of the the best and their stories too.

This book I saw a copy of this around 20 years ago, and yup I bought it around Xmas 2001.(after searching and searching) it had been long out of print.
Lots of coffee, and too many late nights later, here's the deal.
If you are in programming, a jock, sales, news, in a radio station. You must buy this book.
Featuring some of the legends in American and World Broadcasting, the people who built Top 40 radio plus many other formats.
Although this book was written 25 years ago, the lessons for modern radio are still there. Its informative, interesting, funny and lots more.
Make sure you have a notepad and pen handy too, to note down some top tips!

This book was instrumental in helping several radio stations I was managing in Germany in the early 2000s dramatically gain audience share and increase profits. It's not a "how-to" guide, but it provides examples of success to inspire you and your staff. Well worth re-reading!

It is a great book. Didn't know about it till it was mentioned in a Radio Program Directors Boot Camp offered by Dan O'Day. It is a great tool even if you don't like or listen to radio.

I owe my radio career to Dan. The important bit to note about this book is in the name?. This BUSINESS of Radio Programming. It is not a game, though at times it sounds like it. Its a business and Dan is a guru. If The Beatles had been radio guys they'd have sat at Dan's feet.
