Their wedding was a conglomeration of compromises. Arnold thought they should get married indoors, and Martha wanted an outdoor wedding. Martha wanted to invite every single person she knew. It’s not like I get dressed up like this every day, she’d told Katie Ann. Seems everyone I know should see me at my best. Arnold wanted the priest to preside over the entire ceremony.

The author quickly grabs your attention from the first page when she reintroduces her fans to Danielle Kent and the difficulties that seem to find her. This book is no different and when Danielle is facing a truly huge decision she once again seeks out her best friend Levi Detweiller.

I just simply loved it! I cannot believe it has taken me so long to get into this series.

If you don't believe me, I dare you to compare them to some of the other Amish books on the shelves and see what you think. Beth Wiseman lived up to your great written ability with The Wonder of Your Love! It’s a fantastically written story of having faith to follow the path that God is leading them on in their journey to romance. It’s a story of family, commitment and opening yourself up to new adventures. I just simply loved it! I cannot believe it has taken me so long to get into this series. I must go back and read the first book in this series as soon as possible!

I've never read anything by Beth Wiseman and didn't really expect there to be a message about salvation and belief in Christ in an Amish book (that gives you an idea why I.This was the second book in the Land of Canaan Series. This is Katie Ann's story

I've never read anything by Beth Wiseman and didn't really expect there to be a message about salvation and belief in Christ in an Amish book (that gives you an idea why I steer clear from Amish fiction as my Christian faith isn't 'rule based' but based on Christ being our 'high priest' not a bishop or priest who dictates. This is Katie Ann's story. Her husband left her in book 1 and also died.

I can't believe this book. Here I thought this book would have the anwsers to why Ivan lefted Katie Ann in the first place but we still don't have the anwsers to why.Lucy who was the villain past books.Suddening become the innocent victim in all this. Why is that? What about Ivan? How come it's like that every woman he touches become with child? When he was Katie Ann for 20 years nothing happen in all that time? There still alots of unanwer questions in this book. How did Ivan know that Katie Ann was with child? Who told him? How did he build a house in 5 months without Lucy known it? Where was he going the night he was killed? Another thing about this book is how Katie Ann treat Lucy. She pats her on back.Give her money and even a house.Get real! I hope Amish women are not this stupid.Katie Ann said Ivan was just selfish but Katie Ann was pretty selfish herself. Not telling him about their child.

"Wonder" Leaves Me Wondering

In The Wonder of Your Love we find not one, but two romances. The one purporting to be the main storyline involves Katie Ann, whom we know from Wiseman's Plain Pursuit. In that story, Katie Ann's husband of many years had left her for an Englisch woman. Only after he had gone did Katie Ann discover that she was carrying their first child, after many years of marriage.

Wonder picks up a few months after the birth of Katie Ann's son. And we find that Martha, another character from Seek Me with All Your Heart and Plain Pursuit, has forged a close relationship with Katie Ann since the close of the previous story. Martha is one of the two characters in what is supposedly the subplot, or sub-storyline. In my actual reading of the book, neither Katie Ann's nor Martha's storyline seemed dominant, but more as if they were "co-stories." Martha is also the character who ties the title into the story, by her references to the wonder of God's love. Primarily through Martha, too, we see God's love working in its transforming power to change lives, both Martha's and Danielle's, a new character (Query: Will the next story be about Danielle?).

Katie Ann does not expect ever to marry, again, and continues denying the possibility through much of the book. Martha, being much older than Katie Ann, does not expect to marry again, either. Her first husband, whom she had loved deeply, had died; Arnold, her second love, had moved away when he heard that his son was very ill. Martha had not allowed Arnold to come visit her, because his leaving had been very painful, and she didn't want to go through that, again.

Katie Ann's life takes an unexpected turn when Eli shows up for his nephew's wedding. His wife had died 17 years earlier, leaving him to raise their six kinner (children). He is a new empty-nester who fully intends to enjoy his new freedom by working hard on his farm and traveling--a most unusual plan, for an Amish man. By tradition, he should have remarried within two or three years, at most, after his wife died. But here he is, plopped down in front of Katie Ann as an eligible bachelor. Naturally, as their friendship progresses, much match-making occurs, despite the protests of both that they are "just friends," and that a marriage between them is "impossible."

The resolution to Martha's romance comes as a natural progression of Arnold's personal situation. The resolution to Katie Ann's and Eli's "friendship" does not seem natural. Given all the denial from both, any reader of romance fiction knows early on that they will get together, and the only question is how it will work out. I found the solution unbelievable, or at least, difficult to believe. So I wonder: Was the author tired of the book and just wanting to wrap it up? Was she frustrated, unable to form any better resolution to the dilemmas presented by the couple? Did she wrap up both romances in one book because she didn't have enough material for two (which is okay, I guess)?

Ms. Wiseman can do better, in my opinion, than she has done in this book--and she has done better. Seek Me With All Your Heart and Plain Pursuit were both much better stories than this one. I had looked forward to the book focusing on Katie Ann, but I am very disappointed in this one. In fact, it proved so forgettable, for me, that after I first read it, I utterly forgot to write my review. Two or three weeks later, I re-read it in order to refresh it in my mind. And then I forgot, again, to write my review. That has never happened, before. I realize most reviewers have given Wonder... high ratings, but I cannot join them. I give it two stars.

As anyone who has read any of my past reviews knows, I do not suffer bad books lightly and don't mince words, so I am very happy when I can say something nice about a book. The Wonder of Your Love was a very enjoyable, fun, lighthearted thought provoking read, and Ms. Wiseman created characters you came to care about. We met Katie Ann and family, Martha, Ivan and Lucy in the "Plain" series and it is rather nice to meet up with them again. Poor Eli, the consummate "daed" and the newcomer in the mix, didn't realize that he was a goner the first time he held little Jonas, but it was a lot of fun watching him get there.
Katie Ann was very well written; she was indeed much sinned against but carried herself with grace, dignity and courage throughout the whole story, not to mention a bit of humor. She displayed a selfless and forgiving nature that many of us could not as regards Lucy and her generosity was truly what I believe God would have us be, but which most of us could not. She deserved the happiness that was given to her at the end. She truly believed and epitomized that "To hear Him, To know Him, and to understand the wonder of His love--one must trust Him completely."
And Martha, what can you say about Martha? Loud, rowdy, outspoken, loving and lovable hypochondriac. She also gets her man in the end and, like Katie Ann, she deserves it. One of the things I really liked about this book is that none of the characters (except Danielle) were kids in the first blush of young love. These are mature adults who find out that love is possible a second time.
As much as I enjoyed the book I only gave it 4 stars because of Danielle. I cannot, for the life of me figure out what she is doing in the story, her presence adds absolutely nothing to it. In fact, she is a distraction. We certainly don't need her to show us what a wonderful person Martha is, we already know that from her care of Katie Ann and Jonas; and I find the way she was insinuated into the story somewhat unbelievable, as well as her living in Martha's house undetected for as long as she did. I also think there were a few too many electronic devices used!
Having said all that, I heartily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish fiction.
