Is John Calvin a christian? . I strongly believe if John Calvin was alive today he would believe in Inerrancy (which is a good thing).

He never brushes off passages of scripture as myth, folklore or as the mere opinion of the writer intermingled and mixed into the word of God. 3 people found this helpful.

Not only does reading Calvin provide an education in Christianity, but the quality of his la After experiencing some church difficulties, I thought I needed to make sure that my theology was not the problem. So, being a Protestant, I looked to history for guidance and settled on Calvin because of his contributions to Protestantism. I have never been the same and heartily recommend Calvin to all Christians.

I am not reviewing the content. Calvin's Commentaries are obviously very useful to me as a seminarian and Bible study teacher and it is beyond helpful having what must amount to 20,000 pages of trustworthy commentary essentially in my back pocket.

I do want to speak on the Kindle version of these commentaries: I have observed some minor formatting issues on the Kindle edition, as I have come to expect with all Kindle books of this nature. This includes the table of contents, footnotes, and links of reference sometimes linking to the wrong location. There are also numerous typos.

My chief complaints is that the commentaries will not work in browser mode (thus cannot be used with my Chromebook, ever; and will not work on a desktop PC without the Kindle App). Neither will Calvin's Complete Commentaries index on the Paperwhite (and therefore cannot be searched). Without having the ability to access these commentaries through the Kindle app, and not being able to use word searching in these commentaries, the usefulness is, for my purposes, severely limited.

Outstanding commentaries, as an aid to Bible study I cut and paste to my Word document. I love these insights into the mind of John Calvin. ,

Exegetical excellence is what I have come to expect from Calvin, this set of commentaries is no exception! I would highly recommend that they be purchased through an established reputable seller!

I would never be able to afford a hard copy of these commentaries. Having these books right at my fingertips on my tablet and phone is wonderful.

For anyone who wants to read one of the greatest mind's concerning the Word of God this set is a perfect addition to your library!!!!

Every Christian should own this and Matthew Henry's Commentaries volumes 1-6 either by Macdonald or Revel publishing. Hendrickson has too, too many typos.

Great addition to any Bible student's library. Bought it used (they listed it in "very good") and it was in most excellent condition. With the bad "rap" that Calvin has (incorrectly, by my estimation), the commentary is excellent, even if you do not agree with what people say Calvin believed. Just make sure you find out for yourself, rather than listening to "them". Who are "they" anyway? GREAT set!
Product is exactly as advertised, shipped quickly, and arrived in as good or better condition than advertised. I’m a Happy customer.
