If this quick synopsis has whetted your appetite then I highly recommend you getting this book to read in more detail on each topic. This truly is a great book and one ALL new Christians should read. For those of us who have been Christians a long while, it doesn't hurt us to get reminded of the basics once in a while either! Well-written Apologetics book.

I'm using this book for a Bible study group in my home. It has been so helpful in fostering discussion and providing clarity. An example of the questions that end each chapter are these:
On Holiness:
"REFLECTION: In what circumstances have you learned the most about God's holiness? What are the personal implications in your life for God's command, “Be holy because I am holy”?"
On Glory:
"REFLECTION: Which displays of God's greatness, goodness, and beauty have moved you the most? How can you be more intentional about glorifying God day by day? Do you enjoy God? How?"
As an Arminian pastor, I was curious to see the treatment given to issues like the Sovereignty of God and, especially, Predestination. I have been incredibly impressed by the author's careful, kind, and balanced statements without leaving his writing "watered down", but simply and broadly Biblical and evangelical. Though I'm sure I could find points to quibble about, the book is almost shockingly good in my opinion and anyone looking for a good book for small groups should check this book out.

This is a remarkable little book. Not all Christian authors who TRY to be fair-minded and objective succeed, but I think Easley does. Obviously a conservative, evangelical Christian (even if he didn't tell us so at the end) who takes the Bible seriously, Easley makes an honest attempt to reflect differing (conservative) views on such (often contentious) topics as baptism, prophecy, and the rapture (to name but three), and throughout the book, his explanations are entirely Scriptural. Yes, I might quibble here and there about some of his word choices and explanations, but overall, I find this to be a Biblically sound, remarkably objective, fair-minded, and informative book. Being written in easy-to-understand (but not condescending) language makes it all the better. Furthermore, the 52 words are carefully chosen and arranged to present a coherent overview of Christian belief. That Easley discusses the unpopular topic of "hell" at a time when many people today choose to ignore and misinterpret Scripture to deny its severity and duration (if not its very existence) demonstrates his comprehensiveness and soundness. This is not a piece of feel-good fluff. Happily, I acquired this when it was offered as a free ebook in the Kindle Store, but at any REASONABLE price ($.99? YES. $3.99? Your decision.), I would recommend it to others. It is of obvious value to new believers, but it is equally useful as a refresher for us "older" ones.

ADDED NOTE: In regard to one critical reviewer who felt the Nicene Creed was incorrectly cited by Easley, it should be noted that there are valid reasons (historical, doctrinal, and translational) for differences in its wording. In only a matter of minutes I found three variations of the Nicene Creed in as many books. Thus, the aforementioned criticism leveled at Easley is incorrect and the low rating based on it, undeserved.

This is a helpful book for new as well as mature Christians. It's an easy read, but it's faithful to Scripture and carefully written.

Tough book to read, but lots of great information. I will be keeping it as a great reference book!

This is a good little book. It is useful for grasping a basic understanding of important bibliical concepts. It's explanations are simple, concise, and theologically dense. Its definitions are helpful. Its Scripture references are generously peppered throughout. As a preacher, I always welcome this kind of concise theological aid as a helpful refresher to brush up on the basics.
This is a definition and concise explanation of fifty two ChristIan terms that every Christian needs to know and understand. It is well done with brief descriptions of alternative definitions when required.
