Just another awesome book by Bill Peet. Sadly, however, his body of work is fading from view; his books are mostly out of print and becoming hard to get! Hopefully, demand will someday compel the estate or whoever to reissue these works for the next generation. Every single one is a gem of a treasure.

Even though I have tracked down most, I am still missing a few of the pricier works and I would love it if someone would reissue these books in a 3-volume collected format, say 10 books per volume. Call it Peet Complete...

If you've never read a Bill Peet book, then you are missing out. This is one of my favorites from childhood, and it is just as pleasurable to read now, decades later. The artistry is vibrant and fun, and this story (like all his stories) combines with great style the art of telling a lesson in a rhythmic way that appeals to a child.

We love Bill Peet! The Kweeks are funny and brave, cowardly and complacent; some of the same things I see in myself. But bravery and a need to do things differently save the day. So when I say "We love Bill Peet", my kids love this story and I love the way this book shows the bully becoming isolated and the friend who work together having everything they need.

My children and I loved this book. The colorful way Bill Peet teaches lifelong lessons and inspires the reader to rise and search for much higher abilities within themselves is appreciated and rewarding! We've shared his stories with our children's friends as well as other adults that also found it inspiring and uplifting!! He truely teaches to look within yourself for answers and strength beyond what you may expect to find!!
