School & Library Binding: 32 pages.

School & Library Binding: 32 pages. This is a good book for the little guy (or gal) who is learning to read and who justs loves Big Machines (like my nephew!) Ordinarily I prefer illustrations, but this book shows photographs of big machines which is good for showing kids exactly what they look like so that when they see one passing by they will be able to identify it thereby reinforcing their learning.

Library Binding: 32 pages. The information in Born to be a Butterfly is easy to read and the pictures are crisp, colorful and catches the eye, which draws the reader in. Our household typically loves to read DK books because the pictures are very interesting. My small complaint about Born to be a Butterfly (and also pre-level 1 DK reader "On the Move. ) is that some of the photos are across both pages. The crease in the middle makes it difficult to see the whole image in a few cases.

Library Binding: 400 pages. The Long Walk is a re-read for me that I picked back up for Book of the Stephen King Challenge. It is also one of the original stories that King wrote as Richard Bachman. I found it funny in the prologue section entitled The Importance of Being Bachman, King writes that he used his secret alias for when he felt that he had a really dark story that needed to come out. Let me get this straight. King has stories inside him that are too dark and horrible to put his name on them?

School & Library Binding, 48 pages. Published October 12th 1984 by Rebound by Sagebrush (first published 1982). His mom sends him to the store to by some groceries, but Huckle forgets his list. It is so funny when Huckle hooks up with his friend Lowly, and they get all of the food mixed up. But, in the end it's coincidental how a mistake can be turned from negative to positive.

Beginning readers who love wild animals will fall in love with A Trip to the Zoo by Karen Wallace.

Two brothers are taken by Mom to the zoo to see up close all the animals they had seen in books and movies. They get to see and even touch some of the animals, and their wish to take one home with them is somewhat satisfied by "sponsoring" an animal at the zoo.

At home, they thank Mom by painting pictures of all that they saw, so that they could all have their very own zoo! A "Picture word list" provides a valuable review.
