The novel is the first in a series of stories about Miss Bianca, a socialite mouse who volunteered to lend assistance to people and animals in danger.

Clara Margery Melita Sharp (25 January 1905 – 14 March 1991), was an English author of 25 novels for adults, 14 children's novels, 4 plays, 2 mysteries, and numerous short stories. Her most famous work is The Rescuers series about a mouse named Miss Bianca, which was later adapted in two animated feature films, The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under by Disney.

Margery Sharp (1905–1991) published fifteen novels for adults before writing The Rescuers (1959), her first book for children. Born Clara Margery Melita Sharp in Salisbury, England, she spent part of her childhood in Malta before returning to England for high school

Born Clara Margery Melita Sharp in Salisbury, England, she spent part of her childhood in Malta before returning to England for high school. By the time she graduated with honors in French from the University of London, she had already begun publishing short stories; her work would later become a fixture in such American and British magazines as Harper’s Bazaar, Ladies’ Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, and Punch.

Miss Bianca is a white mouse of great beauty and supreme self-confidence, who, courtesy of her excellent young friend, the ambassador's son, resides luxuriously in a porcelain pagoda painted with violets, primroses, and lilies of the valley. Miss Bianca would seem to be a pampered creature, and not, you would suppose, the mouse to dispatch on an especially challenging and extraordinarily perilous mission. A brief description of The Rescuers by Margery Sharp (1959), a fantasy about the adventures of three mice, later made . Miss Sharp’s characteristic gaiety, shrewdness, warmth, and humor are in full attendance, and make this a truly civilized animal story.

A brief description of The Rescuers by Margery Sharp (1959), a fantasy about the adventures of three mice, later made into a pair of animated Disney movies. The breathtaking adventure in which three assorted mice named Miss Bianca, Bernard, and Nils are here engaged is set in motion by that venerable mouse organization, the Prisoners’ Aid Society. A most hazardous case is on the agenda: the rescue of a Norwegian poet from the grim, windowless Black Castle, the most terrible prison in their rough, uncivilized country.

The Rescuers (Collins Modern Classics). Bianca and Bernard, agents for The Prisoners' Aid Society of Mice, rescue prisoners and outwit villains in this enchanting story, made world-famous by the Walt Disney film. The Prisoners' Aid Society of Mice discusses the proposed rescue of a Norwegian poet from the terrible Black Castle. Miss Bianca, the pet white mouse belonging to the Ambassador's son, is sent to Norway on a mission to recruit the bravest Norwegian mouse she can find. She finds Nils, and brings him back triumphantly.

I already owned an old paperback of "Miss Bianca in the Salt Mines" and enjoyed that book on several readings. I'm an adult of 74 years now and thoroughly enjoyed reading this introduction of Miss Bianca to her mission of rescue! I highly recommend it to school-age children, their parents, and adults of any age! Especially if you love mice.

Cute story!! I loved the movies growing up and I wish I had discovered this book years ago. I would recommend this book to anyone who loved Disney's movies or possibly a child in elementary school depending on the reading level 2-5 grade. However, this story is nothing like the movies. There happens to be a series on these characters, so I plan on reading the other books as well. The illustrations are nice too.

I loved this book. I never read it as a child and did not read it to my children (I wish I had). I read it recently because I have discovered Margery Sharp and am trying to purchase everything I can by Margery. This is a must have for parents and their children.

This is a cute adventure tale of little tails enjoyed by lots of little ones as they read solo or listen.

This was a favorite of my daughter's, so it was a natural choice for my 9 year old granddaughter this year. I ordered it with several other books, and all were delivered very timely, weeks before Christmas.

I devoured these when I was little and was excited to find them in such a nice edition. They are very sturdy and well made and all the original illustrations are present.
I may be nostalgic, but I named my first hamster Miss Bianca. Yes, I'm aware that a hamster is not a mouse. Anyway, this story is one of my favorites, and I hope so many more would read it! It's charming, it's well told, and overall, it's just a great one that should be on everyone's personal library shelf.
